PARENTS
Son of Unknowns
Daughter of Daniel O'Gorman and Mary Foley
RELATIONSHIP TO ME
Paternal THIRD grand-parents
I have taken my fraternal primary family branch as far back as Thomas O'Kane and Hannah O'Gorman, both born in Ireland around 1800 and both died there. I have not identified Thomas's parents but Daniel O'Gorman and Mary Foley are the parents of Hannah. I have extensive genealogy on the descendants of Daniel and Mary.

A couple of directions for additional research are plausible ...
1. Prior to this time, the presence of the O'Kane surname in Clare is difficult to accurately trace and may be confused with others, such as KEANE and KAIN. There is a strong possibility that the County Clare surname Keane, was replaced by O'Kane at some point.
2. There is also extensive, documented, DNA proven genealogy that traces the O'Kane surname from Clare, back to the original O'CATHAIN Kings of Ireland, AD. 500. Without DNA testing of my own, I cannot definitively connect to this research either. Further reading and an additional link here.
